I'm Dean. I'm a triathlete from Western Australia. I've raced 70.3s, the Busso 100, and attempted a Full Ironman. irontri came from a real problem I had — and one I know a lot of other athletes have too.
Every time I sat down to find a training plan, I hit the same wall. The free ones were too generic — written for some average athlete with average availability and average weaknesses. The good ones were expensive. And hiring a coach felt like overkill for someone who just wanted to train smart around a real life.
I didn't want someone else's plan. I wanted my plan — built around the days I can actually train, the distance I'm racing, the areas I need to work on. I wanted sessions with a purpose, not just a schedule to tick off.
When I built the first version of irontri, I built it for myself. But I quickly realised I wasn't the only one with this problem. Every triathlete I spoke to had the same story — too busy for a coach, too serious for a generic plan, too individual for a one-size-fits-all PDF.
That's who irontri is for. The working athlete who trains around a real life. The person who wants proper sessions — with real targets, real structure, and real progression — without paying hundreds for a coach.
I built it because I needed it. And I know plenty of others do too.
That photo is me at the 2024 Full Ironman Busselton. I DNF'd. It was brutal — pulling out of a race you've spent months preparing for is one of the hardest things you can do in this sport.
But it didn't break me. It sharpened me. I'm heading back to Busselton in December 2025, and this time I'm going in with a proper plan — an irontri plan, built around how I train, my schedule, and what I need to fix from last time.
That's the whole point of this. Race smarter. Train with a plan that actually fits you. Finish the race.
